I spend some time each day reading a few social media sites and it never ceases to amaze me how the sheeples line up behind their respective parties to malign every word that comes out of the mouths of "opposing" politicians.
I laugh because these people really don't get itI am not sure if you are as tired of all this political garbage as I am. It seems the the biggest trough is Ottawa and the politicos are willing to throw all of us under the bus to get back there or in the case of Harper stay there.
I was once told that when seeking information do one thing and one thing only, follow the money, that is it. Well, if you think about it, that is exactly what politics is, a so called redistribution of money we are forced to give an entity against our will, I think they call that robbery but that is another entry all together. The more money you have the more power you have and the more power you have the more money you can extract from those with less money (this is seeming more and more like a criminal organization). So now you know why the politicians get so nasty when someone wants to take their power and why politicians would sell their children for more power (or should I say mortgage their children's future).
If enough people with a few brain cells got together we would be able to right the good ship gluttony in very short order. I say this because looking at the country there are many opportunities to straighten the course but the rank and file are either too lazy or only seeking to line their own pockets with the ill gotten gains through government grants or refunds from the government.
You don't have to go far to realize the vast majority of the population can't balance their own financial affairs
"Household debt has surged three time faster than income in recent years and now stands at a record high of more than $1-trillion. Put another way, Canadians owe about $1.47 for every dollar of disposable income. Even more remarkably, they took on more debt during the slump – a first for a recession – because borrowing was so cheap." Globe and Mail April 16, 2010.
Logically, you spend what you make. From a business perspective you borrow what you can and leverage this into revenue, it is called return on assets because it is a common practice for business to borrow against future earnings to purchase assets that will churn out those future earnings all the while creating jobs and wealth for those that assume said debt. So much for business 101.
In a household it is much the same thing, with one significant difference, more often than not the debt taken on by consumers is what has been coined consumer debt and is debt that does not generate a return. Granted some astute families leverage their employment income by using it as cash flow to support asset purchases that have the potential to generate income whether that is a business or property.
I would prefer the government to treat the country like a business, the advantage of course is that a properly run business generates revenue, creates jobs, creates shareholder value, and uses debt to generate higher revenue.
I don't want the government spending all its energy trying to stay in power by pandering to special interest groups, trying to look good on the world stage, and showing poor fiscal management by not paying off debt.
I am hoping that one day a political party will emerge from the new social order and it will be fueled by a generation of individuals that have the best interest of Canadians when making policy decisions. Then again I also hope we could stay out of other peoples business as well.
